It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lucille Monica Anne Theresa Macdonald (nee Doll) in Fairview, Alberta on August 6, 2021 at the age of 88 years.Left in Lucille's many notes; Miss Me - But Let Me Go
"MACDONALD, Lucille Monica Anne Theresa (nee Doll)
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no tears or gloom filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little- but not for long
And not with head bowed low.
Remember the love that we shared
Miss me - but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
See family and friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me - but let me go.

Caroline Sych (nee Doll), long-time resident of Brownvale, Alberta, passed away January 31, 2021 in Fairview at the age of 81 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Sammy; sons Lorrie (Valerie), Michael (Susan) and Troy (Melinda); grandchildren Jennifer, Nicole, Bowden, Nicholas, Brina, Sadie, Eryn, Christopher and Alison; great- grandchildren Ethan, Elizabeth, Danica, Ava, Makayla, Kayley, Sawyer and Max; her sisters Margaret Whaley, Lucille Macdonald and Earnestine Hoyem; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Caroline was born on October 27, 1939 in Bluesky, Alberta to parents Catherine (Peter) and Joseph Doll. The family lived on a farm at Friedenstal, Alberta until her father's passing. In Spring of 1942, Caroline, along with her mother, four sisters and one brother, moved to Fairview. At one point, they lived in a small house where the current Boyt Department Store stands. Growing up, Caroline enjoyed playing school-basketball and spending time with friends. After school, she could often be found having a Coke at the Grand Café. Caroline earned money as a babysitter, as a store clerk at Boyt 5 & Ten and, later, as a telephone operator at AGT (during the time of switchboards). On March 22, 1957, Caroline married Sammy Sych. Afterward, the couple moved to their current farm near Brownvale where they raised three sons. Caroline enjoyed gardening, dancing, reading, and mowing her huge lawn. And, it was no secret that doing laundry was one of Caroline's passions - she consistently offered her services to anyone who might accept them. Caroline also enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends. Many of Caroline's meals and desserts are fond family favourites (butter tarts, home-baked beans, donuts and cherry-filled footballs, cabbage rolls, flapper pie, Swiss and minute steak, beet pickles and cinnamon buns to name a few). Caroline doted on the men and grandsons in her life with meals in the house, meals in the field and anything else needed of her. While Caroline enjoyed being on the farm, she really looked forward to girl time with her sisters, friends and granddaughters. Most everyone remembers a fun-filled shopping or ice-cream trip, card or bingo game, or curling bonspiel with Caroline. She was involved with various community groups and especially enjoyed those that allowed her to connect with other women. For a number of years, Caroline mentored teen girls by volunteering as a Pathfinder leader. Above all else, Caroline's family was her greatest joy. Pictures were always displayed with pride. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary - you could always count on receiving a card from Caroline on time for your special day. Caroline was her family's most loyal supporter. She will be dearly missed. Caroline was predeceased by her mother, father, step-father Bert Perry, sister Emelie Schneider and brother Joseph Doll Jr. A Private Funeral Service for the late Caroline Sych was held on February 6, 2021 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Fairview with Father Isidore officiating. Interment at the Brownvale Cemetery. For those wishing to view Caroline's Funeral Service please go to Chapel of Memories Facebook Page.

"DOLL, Katherina (Katie) Genefva - Katie Doll, longtime resident of Fairview, AB passed away on November 5, 2017 in Fairview at the age of 102 years. Katie was born on June 20, 1915 in Regina, SK to Frank and Elizabeth Heck. Katie spent her youth on a farm South of Bluesky and attended a country school at Little Burnt. As she was growing up she learned how to be a pioneer woman and worked diligently alongside her mother learning home making skills. Katie married Martin Doll in 1935 at St. Boniface Church in Friedenstal and the couple settled on a homestead near North Star, AB. Here they started their life together raising five children. In 1963, Martin passed away suddenly suffering a heart attack. Katie moved to Fairview in 1973 and started custodial work at the CIBC bank and after that went on to work at the Fairview Hospital in housekeeping. In 1981 Katie retired and moved to the Garrison Manor the day it opened. During her retirement years she enjoyed bowling, crocheting afghans, travelling, shopping and having coffee with her friends. She took pride in her houseplants and placed many ribbons at the flower show held at the Garrison Manor. She also enjoyed babysitting for many families in the community. When family visited Katie, her candy bowl was always full and always seemed to have little gifts tucked away in her closet to give to the children. Katie lived at the Garrison Manor for 26 years and in 2008 moved to the Fairview Harvest Lodge. In 2016 she moved into the Fairview Long Term Care facility. Katie was predeceased by her husband Martin Doll of 28 years. Brothers Wendelin, Philip, Fred and Joe. Sisters Margaret, Mary and Rose. Brothers-in-law Adolph Krapp and Nick Pohr. Sisters-in-law Monica Heck, Ida Heck, and Pauline Heck. Daughter-in-law Dalbir Doll and grandchildren Emanuel Doll, Jr. and Cathy Dechant. Katie is survived by her children Wendelin (Myrna), Elizabeth (Edward), Emanuel (Lynda), Kenneth, Martin (Debi) and sister-in-law Genevieve Heck. She was the loving grandmother to 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren. Funeral services for the late Katie Doll were held on November 13, 2017 at the St. Thomas More Church with Father Maurice Marion officiating. Interment followed at the Friedenstal Cemetery. Donations may be given to the Happy Harvesters as expressions of sympathy."

Dad was born October 1, 1930 in Russia. He was the youngest of ten children born to Peter and Teresa Heck who were German settlers in the region now known as the Ukraine. As some of you may appreciate, farming in the Ukraine in the 1930's was not an easy endeavour and soon, the waves of war would wash over his childhood home. Displaced and struggling to survive, Dad and his family would spend most of WWII moving from place to place. By the grace of God, most of his family would survive. Eventually, Dad, along with some of his siblings, made their way to Canada and on September 21, 1955, Dad became a citizen of Canada.
"RALPH'S OBITUARY
"My father, Ralph Heck, passed away at his home on January 22, 2021 - last Friday.
With only a grade 6 Russian education, and little knowledge of Canada, her people, or the language they spoke, Dad was not presented with a wealth of work opportunities. However, relatives who had already made it to Canada spoke of a place out west that offered honest, hard working immigrants a new life. Dad certainly fit the bill and soon made his way to the Peace Region - a place he would call home for the rest of his life.
I doubt he knew that would be the case when he first arrived. As a simple labourer, life still wasn't what we would consider easy. However, I imagine Friednestahl, as it was then known, started looking more like home on July 2, 1958 - the day he married our mother, Mary Dukart. Life happened fast after that and they welcomed their first child, Peter, in May 1959. Kathy, Jo-ann, and Ralph Jr, would follow - with me bringing up the rear in 1966. Now, that's a lot of hungry mouths to feed for a man who had never known higher education. But he was no stranger to hard work - and work he did - as a farmer, a school bus driver, a gas station attendant, a partsman, a gravel truck driver - often doing more than one at the same time. So there was enough food, enough clothes, enough shelter; and with our mother at his side - always more than enough love.
We lost our mother on February 19, 1988. Many things changed that day and one of the biggest changes we saw was in Dad. What sometimes seemed a hard hard exterior was gone - in its place something softer, kinder, more vulnerable, more loving. But I would eventually come to understand that this was not a change at all. It was a part of Dad that had always been there - now rising to the surface to help us all through our loss. And it remained - became ubiquitous - and came to define who he was to the very end.
Dad always said he was so proud of all his children - and that he loved all of us very much. I just hope he knew how much we loved him - and how very proud we were to call him our Dad."
