"BIEGEL, Bernard - June 29, 1930 - June 27, 2017 We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our husband/dad/grandfather/great-grandfather at the Fairview Hospital at the age of 86 years, two days before his 87th Birthday. He will forever be loved and remembered by his wife, Irene of 64 years and 8 children, Larry (Linda) Biegel, Mary (Ben) Snisarenko, Dolores (Don) Fentie, Blain (Faye Ann) Biegel, Eugene (Elsie) Biegel, Randy (Joanne) Biegel, Anita (Dave) Machuk, Julie (Rod) Peters, 21 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings - Cecelia, Rita, Catherine, Tony, Edward and Peter. Bernard, eldest son (2nd child) of 13 children, born in Bluesky, AB., was predeceased by his parents, August and Martha, his brothers, Martin and Albert and by his sisters Helen, Matilda, Margaret and Eleanor. Bernard started work in Whitelaw Hotel Dieu Nursing Home as a Nursing Orderly from 1953-1967. He then moved his family to Fairview and worked at the Fairview Hospital until he retired in 1985. He enjoyed working with many of the nurses and staff and was known to play a joke or two on them. His quick wit and willingness to tease kept you laughing. Bernard always liked to hear a good joke, tell a good joke and most of all play a good joke! In the earlier years Bernard enjoyed playing the many musical instruments with some of his brothers and sisters and formed their own band called “The Tune Tops”! Upon his retirement he started his own business where he purchased a Kubota tractor and tiller to work up gardens in spring and clear snow in the winter. Donations of Sympathy may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (Northern Alberta and The Territories Branch) or to a charity of your choice. Prayers for the late Bernard Biegel will be held from St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Fairview on Friday, July 7th at 7:30 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday July 8th at 11:00 AM. Funeral arrangements under the direction of CHAPEL OF MEMORIES, Fairview, Alberta."
