"• Garth Norman Gnam resident of Fairview passed away April 5, 2005 at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton. Garth was born May 3, 1956, the youngest child of four to Norman and Audrey Gnam and lived his life in the Gage area. As a young man he spent many happy hours snowmobiling and motorbiking in the Sand Hills and shooting duck and geese at Hay Lake. When Garth left school, he apprenticed as a mechanic at Herb Lowes Garage, then at Red Line Implements. He was a man of diversity and many talents. Over the years he hauled logs, drove chip truck and gravel truck and was partnered in a logging venture. The job that brought him the most pleasure was when he became a partner in Big North Sports and worked there for many years, making many life long friends. He loved the business as he was such an avid marksman, hunter and fisherman. Garth farmed for many years until he bought a backhoe and started Gnams Hoe Service, working in the oil field maintenance business for 20 some years. Garth married Jackie Chelick in 1974 and they had four children; Jerri, Wendy, Russell and Dennis. Garth combined his love for the outdoors and his family by teaching each of his children to shoot a gun, ride a quad or snowmobile and catch a fish and camp. One of Garths ultimate dreams came true when he purchased a river boat about 5 years ago. Every spare moment was spent with his family and friends cruising up and down the Mighty Peace. Garth passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Garth is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Jackie, daughter Jerri-Lee (Myles Leach and his daughter Montana), daughter Wendy (Shaun Snisarenko), son Russell (Brittany Wayland) and son Dennis, father Norman Gnam, brother Lloyd (Linda), sisters Gwen Simser (Kevin) and Karen Lycar (John) and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his mother Audrey in 1997. Funeral services were held April 9, 2005 at the STM church with Reverend Garry MacDowall officiating. Eulogist was long time friend, Joe Friedel. Organist was Jim Stanich and soloist Lesly Schoenberger. Ushers were David Moskalyk, Brian Wilson and Spud James. Interment of Garths ashes will be laid to rest at a later date. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Moran Funeral Home of Fairview."
